Cape Lookout Adventure

Up the mountain or a trip to the coast? That was the choice of the day. We picked the coast and our favorite hike...Cape Lookout.

We couldn't have made a better choice. The skies were clear the air was warm, what a wonderful break from the cold of the city. The peak-a-boo views of the shoreline were breathtaking. Out at the point we took some time to relax and watch a few seals frolic in the waves far below.

Cape Lookout is located on the Oregon Coast just south of Tillamook. This is one of our favorite hikes along the coast. This narrow rock cliff fingers out perpendicular to the shoreline. As the trail weaves in and out of the forest it offers tremendous panoramic views of the Oregon Coast.

At just 5 miles round trip, this trail offers spectacular scenery even on the worst weather days and every once in a while you even manage to capture that perfect day where the waters way down below look tropical blue.

A dog friendly trail, it is recommended that you have a leash ready for frequent safe passes with other furry visitors. Also, it is a good idea to have your furry friend leashed up at the cliff areas (especially toward the point) as the drops are frequently 300' or more to the bottom.
