Today for Lily's 3rd birthday , we headed over to the coast for a wonderful day of hiking on her favorite trail, Cape Lookout. We couldn't have ordered a more perfect day had we tried. The temps were in the high 50s with a slight breeze, the sky was a wonderful clear blue and the water just sparkled that tropical turquoise.

Cape Lookout is located on the Oregon Coast just south of Tillamook. The Lookout trail is a favorite of ours for the spectacular views that just are some of the most breath-taking ever created. As you hike the trail meanders in and out of the forest. This is such a perfect spot to celebrate Lily's birthday.

Here's Lily on a portion of the trail that has boards placed to help with the marshy effect that all the Oregon Coast rains cause.

As the trail hikes 2 1/2 miles straight out into the ocean on cliffs approximately 300' high, the views looking back to the coast give a perspective that just can't be had anywhere else.

Lily is quite the ham when it comes to posing on the trail. She also really likes to climb up on any overlook she can find.

This section of the trail has a "tunnel" effect created by the foliage. Now, as the leaves are just coming into bloom....the tunnel is looking a little sparce right now.

it's time now for another "view" shot.....

It was...soooo perfect of a day. I can't tell you the number of times I have hiked this trail and it was cloudy and windy (which, to tell the truth, gives it even more charm). Here is Lily showing off another great view.

This one was from an overlook just north of the trail.

After spending the better part of the morning and early afternoon hiking this wonderful trail, it was definitely time for lunch. My friend, Susan, was visiting from Cincinnati (she's an old hiking partner of mine) and her priority was some seafood.

Just a little ways down the road we found this quaint little place. With a name like that, who could go wrong.

Here is the view out of the picture window next to our table

I guess you can tell a good oyster bar by the pile of shells in the back....we opted for the halibut (fresh off the dock that morning) & chips......ymmmmmmmmmmm

this little guy wandered through...isn't he cute.

Well, that was our day. How was yours?
